Mindfulness-Based Mental Health
It is very common for people in emotional pain to be preoccupied with the past or
the future. How we hold onto pain or fear future pain can obstruct our ability to
access how to help ourselves. Mindfulness is based on the ability to focus on the
present moment so that we can learn to use our own wisdom and experience to heal.
Mindfulness can be learned and practiced to relax, examine self-sabotaging habits,
understand our relationship with whatever is occurring in our lives- so that change
can occur in a healthy, logical manner. Mindfulness is not done "to" you;
it includes stress reduction techniques and learning how to look at familiar, knee-jerk
reactions without tightening up and creating more pain for yourself and others.
