Maura P. Carter, Ph.D. is a clinical neuropsychologist who has specialized, for twelve years, in providing comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation to adults, adolescents, and children (age 8 and older). Dr. Carter is a licensed psychologist who is formally trained as a clinical neuropsychologist. Dr Carter received her Ph.D in clinical psychology from Auburn University in 1992. She completed her postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology at Central Georgia Rehabilition Hospital in Macon, Georgia where her clinical training emphasized the assessment of individuals of all ages who were undergoing comprehensive rehabilitation following traumatic brain injury, stroke, anoxic brain injury, and other neurological injuries and disorders. Dr Carter has provided neuropsychological evaluation services in Birmingham, Alabama since 1994. Dr Carter has extensive experiences in the neuropsychological assessment of memory and attention disorders, the cognitive changes associated with many different neurological and medical disorders, dementia, traumatic brain injury, seizure disorders, stroke, learning disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders, chronic pain syndrome, work- related injuries, civil/legal competency issues, and capacity to live independently. Dr Carter assessments provide detailed and useful information pertaining to diagnosis and treatment recommendations, tailored to each individuals needs. Dr. Carter is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), APA Division 40 (Clinical Neuropsychology) the National Academy of Nueropsychology, the Alabama Psychological Association, the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
